About This Place

Millie’s Café and Farm Shop, nestled on Melton Rd in Barrow upon Soar near Loughborough, offers a warm and inviting escape for anyone seeking a delightful café experience with a countryside charm. This intimate yet spacious spot is much more than an ordinary café—it’s a welcoming community hub where freshness and care are felt in every detail.

At Millie’s Café, the menu shines with a range of tempting treats that perfectly capture the essence of a relaxed, comforting meal. Their renowned Afternoon Tea offers a well-curated selection of sweet and savory bites that make every visit feel like a special occasion. The Cream Scone is buttery and delicate, best savored fresh with clotted cream and jam, while the Tuna & Cheese Panini delivers a satisfying balance of melted cheese and savory fish, served alongside crisp kettle-cooked crisps and tangy chutney. For something heartier, the Hog Roast Sausage Roll is a standout, boasting rich, flavorful meat wrapped in golden, flaky pastry. And no visit feels complete without their Cornbread and a perfectly brewed Pot of Tea, crafted to soothe and refresh.

Guests repeatedly praise the café’s attentive and warm service, which makes the experience feel personal and thoughtful. Olivia Pearn’s review highlights the quick and kind customer care, along with the clean, dog-friendly outdoor space that invites visitors to unwind comfortably in the fresh air. This sense of genuine hospitality shines through, making Millie’s Café as much about community connection as it is about the food.

The café’s atmosphere strikes a beautiful balance between rustic charm and modern comfort. Cyclists like Molly find it the perfect mid-ride stop with consistently excellent cakes and allergy-conscious coffees, all enjoyed in “a beautiful site” with “lovely staff.” This echoes the cozy but spacious ambiance that Kristabel Ewers describes, complete with thoughtful touches like blankets for cooler days—a subtle kindness that transforms a simple break into a cherished pause.

Beyond the café, the farm shop stocked with local gifts and artisanal foodstuffs offers a charming extension of the Millie’s experience, allowing visitors to take a piece of this special place home. Wendy Leaver’s note about the well-stocked shop complements the café’s reputation for quality and variety.

Notably, Millie’s also serves as a trusted local resource beyond food. Tara Smith’s long-standing tradition of purchasing Christmas trees here speaks volumes about the reliability and community spirit of the farm shop. The personal touch of delivering a Christmas tree when it doesn’t fit in the car exemplifies the high level of care and customer dedication that makes this venue truly stand out.

In essence, Millie’s Café and Farm Shop is a rare find that combines delicious, thoughtfully prepared food with a warm-hearted, community-focused environment. Whether you’re pausing for a quick bite, indulging in a leisurely afternoon tea, or shopping for something special, Millie’s promises a genuine, comforting, and memorable experience that leaves visitors eager to return.

Really cute place! We sat outside and they gave us blankets! Lots of choices of drinks and light snacks. Our panini came with crisps and chutney. All the small details make the place lovely and cosy.

I went to get a Christmas tree. We picked the one we wanted, they wrapped it, then when it wouldn't fit in my car delivered it for me. It's the 3rd year of getting a tree from here. Always lasts through Christmas. Reasonably priced
